Alan Oatsvall
General Manager
Alan Oatsvall, the man who led the Des Moines Menace organization during its run past El Paso to the Premier Development League championship in 2005, will now lead the Patriots, hopefully to the same lofty spot atop the United States’ largest soccer league. Oatsvall has a strong history successfully managing business’ that allows them to produce at the highest level. The Patriots are banking on that ability as the team continues to pursue a return to the United Soccer League’s First Division and to make more inroads into what is already a good soccer city. More important to Oatsvall than the Menace’s on-field accomplishments, though, was what the Des Moines, IA, franchise achieved off the field. Through consistent community involvement and partnership with the Des Moines area business community, Oatsvall created one of the most well-followed, well-thought-of franchises in American soccer. The Menace were consistently at the top of the PDL for attendance in each of the three seasons Oatsvall was there, who presided over two Menace runs deep in the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup. In 2005 Des Moines went all the way into the fourth round of the Open Cup, claiming the thousands of dollars in prize money that awaits the last team standing from each level of the game. Booster trips to MLS games, fan-friendly events and a place for both passionate soccer fans and those just learning the beautiful game are Oatsvall hallmarks, as will be the Patriots Soccer Academy. “I am excited to come to El Paso for the opportunity that the community and area provides,” says Oatsvall. “I am very passionate for sports and soccer has become a integral part of me.” Oatsvall also says the reason for his success is due to his ability to make and keep friends. “Having the full support from my family and staff enables me to be successful” stated Oatsvall, “The key to growth is building partnerships and providing a solid product with excellent service”. Alan is married to Susan and together they have five children and a granddaughter. In his spare time Alan enjoys spending time with his wife outdoors, watching youth soccer and traveling. The Patriots, which returned to the playoffs in 2007, will begin work on the team’s 18th season in 2008 as the longest continuously-running professional franchise in the .
