Diana Cervantes
Vice President
Being a team manager at the age of 13 for her brothers’ team motivated Diana to work for a professional soccer organization. Diana handled team credentials, attended youth league meetings, and organized travel arrangements for her brothers’ team. This is where soccer became her passion and decided to pursue a career in the sports industry. For the past 13 years with the El Paso Patriots, Cervantes efforts have successfully created one of the most highly recognized professional soccer organizations in the United Soccer Leagues. Cervantes has had the opportunity to work with several recognized top teams giving her the ability to host exhibition games in El Paso, Texas. Some of these teams include the LA Galaxy, FC Dallas formerly known as the Dallas Burn, Tigres de Monterrey, Atlas and Chivas from Guadalajara, Santos from Torreon, Monterrey Rayados, Cruz Azul, U-17 Mexican Men’s World Cup Champions, Australian and Mexican Women’s National Team. In addition to delivering good marketing to the community, expense and cost analysis have effectively helped to reduce cost. In an industry where success does not come easy, the Patriots organization has remained a solid team within the franchise. Cervantes joined the El Paso Patriots as Public Relations Director in 1994. She was promoted to current position in 2002 and was named Vice President. She received her BBA in both Marketing and Management in 2000 from the University of Texas at El Paso. One of her major accomplishments was hosting the 1995 U.S. Open Cup Championship match which was internationally televised live from El Paso, Texas setting a USL record attendance of 10,000 fans. Ten years later she was fortunate to host the PDL Championship and set a new PDL playoff record reaching nearly 7,000 fans. As a result of making the 2005 championship one of the most successful championships, Cervantes received the Marketing Excellence Award from the United Soccer League. Her goal is to become the first Major League Soccer organization in El Paso, Texas. Her major interests are St. Raphael Church and St. Judes Hospital Volunteer, camping, and other community involvement.
